Community Interpreting
Context provides interpreting services to the public sector in
Ireland. Interpreters are available 24 hours a day and seven days a
week, both on site and by telephone. Major users of this service
include:
- An Garda Síochána - Irish police force
- Health Service Executive - Public health service provider in Ireland
- Courts Service of Ireland
- Refugee organisations
- Social welfare organisations
- Solicitors.
To
meet all interpreting requirements for the above sectors, Context
established a panel of over 1000 interpreters covering 100 core
languages. Each day of the week including weekends, Context
interpreters assist during consultations between health care
professionals, social workers, Gardaí, solicitors, registrars and their
respective clients.
In year round recruitment
and training efforts, we extend our panel of interpreters and add
languages as new requirements emerge.
On-site, telephone and video link interpreting
Our
response time to urgent calls for interpreters is between 5 and 20
minutes. Where an interpreter cannot travel to a location at short
notice to facilitate face to face communication, Context offers
telephone or video link interpreting as an alternative. This type of interpreting can
be very successful where the objective of the communication is to
establish facts rather than to explore a complex situation
Recruitment and Training
are
carried out continuously in accordance with our NSAI ISO 9001:2000
accredited
procedures. Each interpreting candidate is interviewed, vetted and
rated according to qualifications and experience. An electronic skills
profile is generated in each
case to ensure that the best suited interpreter is assigned to a task.
The skills profile also dictates the amount and type of training an
interpreter will undergo while registered with Context.
The objective of our
comprehensive recruitment and training efforts is to respond to all
interpreting requirements in an efficient, reliable and sustainable
manner to our client's complete satisfaction.
